  • Caterpillar colour – Green then changes to orange-brown in colour.

  • Food for the caterpillar – Stinging nettles, nectar on wild flowers, willow, elm and hops.
  • Food for the butterfly – Rotting fruit, stinging nettles, thistle and knapweed.
Special features

The Comma is one of the few butterflies thriving, it is believed that climate change is helping its survival. The Comma gets its name from the only white marking on its underside, which resembles a comma.
